3° prize for the best Italian niche product

Tuttofood Cheese Award selects the best Italian cheeses

The competition “Tuttofood cheese Award” of the Milano International Fair addresses Italian and foreign cheese producers with the purpose of enhancing quality cheeses. In the PDO category the first prize was awarded to the “Mozzarella di bufala” produced by the dairy La Marchesa in Taverola (Caserta). Second prize winner was the “Fiore sardo” by Sarda Formaggi in Olbia. Third prize went to the “Gorgonzola” by the dairy Costa in Novara.

Tuttofood Cheese Award premia le eccellenze casearie italiane Honourable mention was given to the “Pecorino sardo” produced by Sarda Formaggi in Olbia, to the “Caciocavallo Silano” by Cardisco di San Paolo in Civitate (Foggia), to the “Bra d’alpeggio” by the dairy Valle Inusina in Bra (Cuneo), to the “Ricotta romana” by the dairy Brunelli in Aprilia Latina and to the “Queso Cabrales” produced by the dairy Quesera del Cares in Asturias (Spain).

In the category niche cheese first prize winner was the “Burrata in foglia” produced by the Breeder Co-operative in Putignano (Bari). Second place went to the “Formajo Cioc” Albino Rosso by the creamery Perenzin in Bagnolo di San Pietro di Feletto (Treviso). Third prize was awarded to the “Tronchetto dei Guelfi” by Arnoldi Val Taleggio. Honourable mention was given to the “Stracchino” Conrado by the dairy Pugliese in Lauriano (Torino), to the “Pecorino riserva” by the dairy Fattoria della Piana, to the “Castelformaggio medioevale” by the creamery Perenzin in Bagnolo di San Pietro di Feletto (Treviso), to the “Branzi” produced by the Social Dairy in Branzi (Bergamo) and to the “Pecorino di cantina” by the dairy “Il Fiorino” in Roccalbenga (Grosseto). Amalattea promoted also a congress about the goat sector in Italy. The growing success of goat’s milk and its by-products is due not only to their good taste but also to their healthy and genuine properties.

The congress started with a speech of the Rai journalist Sandro Vannucci. A speech of Camillo Gardini, President of Cdo Food and one of Giovanni Caldarone, President of the Diet and Clinic Nutrition Association of Latium followed. After the speech given by MP Marcello Vernola concerning the rules CE 1924 about nutritional claims, the congress continued with a speech of the Amalattea President Maurizio Sperati, who talked about the problems connected to the marketing of goat’s milk and its by-products. The final speech was given by Edoardo Raspelli, journalist and presenter of channel 4 programme “Melaverde” .
Also discussed were topics such as new policies aiming at turning agricultural areas in Sardinia and Latium from marginal to productive and the importance of setting up an Italian Goat Pole that gathers farmers, industrialists and institutions.
